Assemble Shop & Studio + Drygoods Design Stamp + Tea

We had our Kickstarter Backer Stamp + Tea! It was so fun--cupcakes, rubber stamps and delicious hot tea, perfect for a Fall day. We made mini stab-bound booklets and stampy patterned covers. A special thanks to Drygoods Design for donating their space to our cause. We love you, Drygoods! If you're in need of some fabulous fabric or stitching accoutrement, make sure to drop by their shop! Enjoy the photos!

Class Is In Session! // 3 Warm-Weather Workshops

Get your pencils and your books! A bunch of our friends are hosting some fun classes for the spring and summer that will help you get up the courage to focus on what you really want out of your career and life. We are even participating in a few of them.

First up, some self promotion--there's only a few more days to sign up for my From Scratch to Success: Starting Your Own Creative Small Business class, which starts next Monday, the 6th. Work at your own pace, plus one student will win a $500 grant from Go Mighty + a free business consultation from me. **Use the code "MIGHTY" to get 20% off of the regular $20 price.

Also, starting on May 6th, be sure to check out our good friend Melanie's brand new online workshop: Start Your Spark//Creative Writing! This one is $75 for a six week program, and looks like a great way to initiate your writing brain power to wake up and get that pen moving!

And for all you bloggers out there, don't miss the School House Craft's Summer Blogging Camp! On June 14th, we'll be speaking on a panel with other bloggers like Megan Reardon of Not Martha, Blair Stocker of Wisecraft, and Arianne Foulks of Aeolidia. For $45, the camp includes two panels with Q&A roundtables, plus a healthy lunch buffet that will include vegan, omni, and gluten-free options. Yipee!!

See you at school, kids!

A Brand New Side Project: Freelance Writing + Business + Brand Consultation

Okay, so I know we usually promote other amazing business ladies and creative teams on Fridays, but I feel the need to (quietly) toot my own horn on this one. After many years freelancing, and just kind of "hearing" about jobs and writing here and there (you may already know I'm an Apartment Therapy contributor), I finally made a website to promote my work. So, I present to you, my brand new site: AndiePowers.com

freelance business and brand consultant and writer andie powers

I'm excited about moving forward with freelance writing and brand consulting--don't worry, Assemble is still first and foremost in my heart--but it will give me a chance to help other creative businesses with their branding and business planning. Speaking of, I'm going to be teaching an online class on Skillshare, sponsored by Go Mighty, starting on May 1st. I hope you'll join me if you are looking for a good, positive environment in which to receive a loving kick in the pants to start up that business you've been wanting! One student will win a free business consultation and plan review from me!

Keep watch here and on AndiePowers.com for more info, coming soon. Oh, and ps., I also have a new personal twitter, where I will be mostly talking about things like how much cake I ate that day, new classes I'm teaching and articles I write about television. Please follow me at @andiegwpowers. Love you guys!

Will You Be My Valentine? // Valentine Picks from Assemble Shop

Looking for a gift for your sweetie? (Or looking for something to conveniently leave open on the computer screen for them to find?) Here ya go! Here are our favorite picks for awesome Valentine gifts. Hurry up though! Some of these are the last ones left in the shop--and I'm not telling you which ones!

Valentine gift guide for creatives

1. Assemble Needle-Felted Sweets Crafting Kit, $30. One of our kits of course! We would never miss an opportunity to let you in on these gems, OBVIOUSLY. A sweetie for your sweetie! All funny-business aside, if you're wanting to learn Needle-Felting but want some one-on-one instruction, head over to Drygoods Design's workshop schedule where I'll be teaching this kit in their brand new Make.Do.Mend space. Sign up quick!

2. You Are My Sunshine card by Iron Curtain Press, $5. Our Favorite Friend, Rosanna Kvernmo of Iron Curtain Press has a knack for creating lovely, simplistic Valentines. We love this one.

3. Rosey White + Fuschia 'Dot' Earrings by Vivi Dot, $14. This isn't the only style, but it's definitely the most "Valentiney." Check out all of Vividot's awesome dotty jewelry on our shop.

4. This is the Moment Print by Jessica Swift, $20. A favorite of mine: this print is sweet, hip and oh-so-unique.

5. Me & You Pencils by Knot & Bow, $12. I love these! I use the Meatballs & Potatoes one for French class--no idea why. But as a pencil connoisseur, let me tell you that these are amazing. 1/they don't break. 2/they sharpen well (none of that giant wood splintery-up the side business that you get a lot) and 3/the erasers ERASE. Unlike some pencil erasers that will remain nameless.....

Got a question? Special order? Let us know!
